RULESET

A ruleset in Submission Grappling defines the specific guidelines, scoring system, legal and illegal techniques, and victory conditions that govern the competition to ensure fairness, safety, and consistency.

INTERMEDIATE DIVISION

For competitors who have gained a solid understanding of fundamental techniques and positions but are not yet at the advanced or expert level typically at the white to blue belt level.

WHITE - BLUE RANK BELTS

INCLUSIONS (ALLOWED):
- All submissions allowed
- All Judo throws & Wrestling Takedowns allowed
- Mother's Milk/Smother Chokes
- Neck Crank
- Twister
- Half and Full Nelson

EXCLUSIONS (NOT ALLOWED):
- Suplex
- Slam
- Kani-Basami (Scissor Takedown)
- Jumping Guard
- Fish Hooks
- Biting/Striking
- Eye Gauges
- Small Joint manipulation
- Scratching

PROFESSIONAL DIVISION

For highly skilled competitors with extensive experience, typically from the purple to black belt level, who demonstrate a deep understanding of complex techniques and strategies.

PURPLE - BLACK RANK BELTS

INCLUSIONS (ALLOWED):
- All submissions allowed
- All Judo throws & Wrestling takedowns allowed
- Mother's Mlik/Smother Chokes
- Neck Crank
- Twister
- Half and Full Nelson
- Jumping Guard
- Suplex
- Slam
- Kani-Basami (Scissor Takedown)

EXCLUSIONS (NOT ALLOWED):
- Biting/Striking
- Fish Hooks
- Eye Gauges
- Small Joint manipulation
- Scratching

HYGENE & UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:
(Required for all divisions)
- Fingernails must be clipped
- Must not have unreasonable body odor
- Shower and deodorant
- Hair must be tied up or cut no longer than shoulder length
- No Gel in hair
- No Body oil
- Rash guards, spats, and shorts with no pockets or outer Velcro.
- Athletes are not required to wear any specific color to match their belt division
- No socks or shoes allowed on the mat
- Wrestling singlets are allowed
